Since the 1980's, Acuson has been known as the "Gold Standard of Ultrasound." This became very obvious when Siemens chose to name all of its ultrasound products "Acuson" instead of Siemens. Acuson's name is so strong that it actually "trumped" the Siemens name. There are few examples in business history in which this is the case.

This tradition continues with its release of Acuson's "X" series of ultrasound machines, as well as its long-standing, well-known history with the Sequoia ultrasound systems.
