Purchasing portable ultrasounds is complicated, but we make it easy
Summary: While image quality has gone up, prices have gone down from most late-model portable ultrasound systems. You can purchase a good-quality portable ultrasound for less than $20,000, and premium systems remain competitively priced.
You'll find excellent machines at great prices on this page, however, the key to purchasing a portable ultrasound machine is choosing the correct machine for your needs. This is one of the more complex categories, as each portable ultrasound has its specific uses and applications. What's good for one doctor is not necessarily good for the next. Read up on these, and call GPS Medical to let us make your final decision quick and painless.

SonoSite Titan Color Doppler Ultrasound Machine
It's hard to describe this machine as simply "Good", as it was considered among the premium portables not too long ago.
The Titan is an excellent choice for those on a budget, but need a good, easy-to-use portable ultrasound machine. It's typically best for vascular, small parts, needle guidance, PICC lines, abdominal, and light obstetric use.

GE LogiqBook XP Color Doppler Ultrasound

You'll find that the specifications on the LoqiqBook XP are similar to the SonoSite Titan, however, these machines have very different target audiences. They're both well-priced, but there are many things in which each system has its clear strengths. The LogiqBook XP is also very good for vascular, small parts, needle guidance, PICC lines, abdominal, but is definitely superior in OB/GYN applications and any procedure requiring a calculations and measurements package.

BETTER
GE Logiq e Portable Ultrasound Machine for OB/GYN, Vascular, Small Parts, MSK, and other emerging markets

Forget the Logiq i, the Logiq e is better when it comes to price and performance. It's a highly customizeable portable ultrasound designed for more advanced users.
It is still relatively simple if it's properly set up for you (we provide this service if you choose). Many physicians would choose this over the MicroMaxx or similar machines because of its customizeability and superior control over the image quality. In a word, if image is everything, this machine is the best choice in this range.

BETTER
SonoSite MicroMaxx Color Doppler for Vascular, Small Parts, Needle Guidance, Physician use, Emergency, MSK, and other emerging markets
The MicroMaxx and Logiq e have specific markets in which each has its own strengths. The MicroMaxx is easier to use, but at the expense of control over image quality, customization, measurement and analysis packages, and reporting.
You'll want to call us prior to purchasing a portable machine so we can walk you through this process painlessly.

Acuson Cypress Plus Portable Cardiovascular Ultrasound
The Acuson Cypress remains one of the strongest cardiovascular ultrasound machines in its price range. Although it's been discontinued, a few new systems remain. Service on these machines will be available for many years ahead, so don't let this fear stop your purchase.
The Cypress is replaced by the Acuson P50 portable ultrasound machine, which excels in vascular and small parts imaging. |
Acuson P50 and Terason T3000 Cardiac, Vascular, Small Parts, Needle-Guidance, Anesthesia, MSK and other emerging markets
In side-by-side demo situations, we sell the Acuson P50 consistently over the Logiq e or SonoSite MicroMaxx when the budget allows. Doctors prefer its versatility, image quality, and ease-of-use over other similarly-priced ultrasound machines.
You'll find that its versatility provides tremendous advantages over any other ultrasound in the market. Its PC-based architecture allows full access to the Windows operating system, allowing you to use it as a PC with Microsoft Office, full internet access, wireless networking... and you can connect any printer, wireless mouse, video camera or anything else you can connect to a standard PC via USB.
You'll want to choose this premium portable ultrasound if most of your studies involve use of the linear probe. If more than 40% of your studies are cardiac echos, you'll want to choose the GE Vivid i.
Stress Echo is available, and the P50 has Structured Reporting. |
GE Vivid i Cardiac Ultrasound Machine
Choose if most of your studies are cardiac echo.
Standing alone at the top of our list for portable cardiac ultrasound machines is the GE Vivid i.
Its image quality and overall penetration is the best choice if the majority of your ultrasounds are cardiac studies. It's a good vascular machine. You'll find that it's a stable machine and we have few, if any, problems with the machine. |
